Woodsmoke Adventures & Greenhouse Supper Club

Author: Anita Geisel
Article was submitted for the 2008 R.M. Booklet.

Anita Geisel came to Whitemouth in 2003 to start her new life as a caterer.  She found the perfect place to start her new career in Whitemouth, at a secluded 2 acre corner lot on the Whitemouth River.  With help from the community and her own vision she created WOODSMOKE ADVENTURES and the GREENHOUSE SUPPER CLUB.

What brought Anita, the accountant and mother of three from Winnipeg, into the rural area of Whitemouth to start her new catering company?  Anita has always has passion for two things, the back country and cooking.  It was the dream of combining these two passions that brought her to this area.  Anita was taken by the diversity of the terrain and outdoor activities present in the Whitemouth/Whiteshell region.

Her first step in creating her business was a custom built woodfired B.B.Q.  Anita was now ready to begin operations as a travelling caterer.  Her specialty is outdoor, woodfired B.B.Q. catering with everything made from scratch including her own special recipes for sauces, marinades and meat rubs.  Anita’s strong community roots are shown in her support of local businesses and producers for all her events.

Woodsmoke Adventures was born from this new way to look at catering.  Their slogan is, HAVE B.B.Q…WILL TRAVEL…ANYWHERE.  Woodsmoke Adventures has done just that and taken Anita all the way to the Rockies.  While there she climbed and catered for a group of alpine climbers for a week at a mountain hut.  This was a dream come true for Anita as an avid outdoor enthusiast.  She is an accomplished climber, back country skier, trail biker and backcountry hiker.  She is always happy to combine her outdoor pursuits with her love for cooking.  Because of this Anita and her partner, Myles McLean, will cater to anywhere you want to celebrate, from your own back yard to your favorite lakeshore or back country cabin…winter or summer.

In 2006 Anita added a new aspect to Woodsmoke Adventures to include an on-site catering facility called the GREENHOUSE SUPPER CLUB.  An old greenhouse on Anita’s property was refurbished and renovated into a three season facility featuring monthly theme dinner parties from all over the world.  These five course dinners come alive with entertainment and decorations served to you in a casual party atmosphere.  It is an amazing venue and with the enthusiasm and spirit from Anita and Myles helps to take every party and make it a special event.  By popular demand in 2008, events have increased to include several casual buffet dinners, luncheons and brunch.

The GREENHOUSE SUPPER CLUB invites you to their annual open house on June 8th, from 1:30 to 4:30 at 149 Henderson Ave., Whitemouth.  “Come out and check out our facility, meet our friendly staff, try some taste testers…AND JOIN THE CLUB.”  For catering information and event tickets call Anita at 348-2668 or e-mail at ageisel@mts.net.
