2010 Municipal Election

 The next municipal election is October 27th, 2010.  There are a number of changes for the 2010 election, including:

Registration        Candidates must register within a certain time period.

 

Contributions    When accepting contributions, there are rules concerning who can     contribute and how much.  These rules are the same for all municipalities.  If you accept cash contributions, you will be required to open a separate bank account.

 

Expenses             When spending money on your campaign, there are maximum limits set by each municipality.  The limits within the R.M. of Whitemouth are $1500 for either reeve or councillor.

 

Keeping Track    You must document any contributions received or campaign expenses incurred;   keep receipts.

 

Reporting            You must file a statement showing your campaign contributions and expenses.  This statement is available to the public.  The deadline for filing your statement is January 24, 2011.
